The easiest way to explain the difference is to say valeting is a professional cleaning service – a step above a machine car wash or even a £5 road side wash, as the treatments will be correctly applied by hand, valeting concentrates on removing surface dirt from your vehicle. This process usually takes around 3-4 hours to complete.

Whereas detailing is a cut above valeting – it’s the process of restoring and protecting your vehicle, inside and out, for a showroom-perfect look. To detail a vehicle fully it can take upwards of 3 days.

When ever we wash a car we follow some basic principals

  • We begin by examining your vehicle, taking note of any scratches or paint defects, and checking for stains etc inside. We always take before photographs as well to document this.
  • Next, we apply a pre-wash treatment to lift dirt from the bodywork and wheel cleaner to the wheels..
  • We then rinse down the vehicle clean the wheels fully using a dedicated wheel shampoo alongside wheel cleaners.
  • After the wheels have been cleaned we rinse the vehicle again and also the wheels, before moving on to the contact wash of the car.
  • Using high-quality, super-soft mitts, we perform a contact wash to remove any remaining contamination from the bodywork.
  • We then rinse the vehicle fully and apply a wax rinse aid before rinsing a final time and drying with a quality drying towel. We NEVER use drying blades or chamois leathers.
  • Depending on your plan, we apply polish or wax using our range of products and let it dry before buffing it off for a dazzling shine.
  • If you’ve chosen an interior package, we thoroughly hoover the car including the boot and then clean every surface of your vehicle, before dressing the interior trim. If part of your package we also shampoo the interior seats
  • Finally we dress the tyres and any external trim before cleaning the glass.

Swirl marks are  circular microscopic scratches on car paint that are mainly caused by poor wash techniques. Swirl marks are formed on the car clear coat and if you have a dark coloured car, these scratches will display prominently when light reflects off them.

You can hide or mask them to an extent by using a filler type polish or a glaze, however after a few washes they will be visible again. The only way to remove them is with machine polishing. Depending on the condition of the paint, you can expect up to 90% of defects to be removed with machine polishing.

There is quite a difference between hand polishing and machine polishing also known as buffing or mopping. Hand polishing is much more gentle than machine polishing however the results are night and day.

A hand polish will restore a little shine and help to hide some minor marks, where as a machine polish is more aggressive as it uses an abrasive compound with a polishing pad on a machine. The major advantage of machine polishing is its ability to remove fine scratches, swirl marks ( see above ) and provide a high-gloss finish to the car’s painted parts. It prepares the surface for waxing and ceramic coatings.

This question gets asked a lot: what’s the difference between a ceramic coating a wax and a sealant? It makes sense that there’s confusion around the topic – terms like these are often used interchangeably and most people were taught to understand that a wax is THE best product to use. In a lot of ways that was true, but as detailing technology continues to evolve, paint protection materials have become more advanced and distinct differences between these products have begun to emerge.

Waxes, sealants & ceramic coatings have distinct advantages and are specifically suited for different applications.

WAX

  • Large molecular structure
  • Topical product
  • Protection time: 3-6 weeks
    SEALANTS
  • Netting type bonding effect
  • Synthetic polymer mixed with resins
  • Protection time: 3-6 months
    CERAMIC COATINGS
  • Nano molecular structure (very small)
  • Silica base compound mixed with solvents or resins
  • Very durable protection against many elements
  • Protection time ranges from months to years depending on the number of layers applied to the vehicle

In short yes we do.

We recommend ceramic coatings over waxes due to the longevity and the better UV protection they offer. However we understand not everyone wants a ceramic coating or can be with out their car for 2-3 days while the car is prepared and coated.

We offer various levels of coatings that will last from 1 to 5 years, provided they are maintained correctly.

Our prices vary on the car and the package required. Typically they start from £40 based on a small car such as a VW UP, MiTo.

Excessive pet hair carries a surcharge of £25 due to the additional time that has to be spent cleaning.

We also offer interior shampooing, machine polishing and ceramic coating services.

No two cars are the same, however on our standard package, a typical valet takes around 3 hours to complete. If you decide to include upholstery cleaning, this may add an extra 30-50 minutes to the process. However, if you choose our platinum package, the duration could extend to roughly 5 hours. Ultimately, the amount of time required is dependent on the condition and size of your vehicle.

Detailing a car is much more intricate than a normal valet, even our platinum package. Typically the wash and decontamination process alone can take several hours to complete. This is followed by anywhere up to 20 man hours of machine polishing before the coating is applied.

Before we detail a car we like to assess it before hand with the customer so we can give an accurate quote for the work and as to how long it will take to complete. Once this is complete we will book you in at a time suitable to yourself.

Yes, we are a mobile service covering most of Yorkshire. We can valet your vehicle almost anywhere, provided we have sufficient space to work around it. If your location is on a busy road, we may request that you move your car to a side street to ensure the safety of our technicians.

We only ask that we have somewhere to plug an extension cable in to for power and an external tap for a water source. We have enough to cover around 50M.

We can remove most stains depending on how long they have been present in the vehicle. Paint spillage can be more difficult re remove as can milk spillages.

We always pre-treat a stain, before using an industrial wet vac and a drill brush to agitate and remove the stain.

We can accept payments via the following method either at the time of booking or once the work has been carried out.

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • PayPal
  • Credit/debit cards ( if paying upon completion of the work, please advise us before hand so we can be sure to have our card reader )
